A six month search by the CYSO Board of Directors for a new Executive Director ended very successfully in February 2009 when David Endicott became Executive Director of the Cascade Youth Symphony Orchestras. David is a management consultant with several clients and is based in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood. Before joining CYSO, David served in Washington, DC for five years as Press Secretary to former U.S. Senator Slade Gorton and later was appointed by former Gov. Mike Lowry to a full-time policy position on the Washington Health Care Policy Board. He has been a public information officer at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and has been a partner at several Seattle public relations agencies. A native of Viroqua, Wisconsin, he served as a staff aide for six years in the Wisconsin State Assembly and State Senate.
In his community service, David is a member of Seattle Downtown Rotary. He runs two major programs for Rotary District 5030 in the greater Seattle area, including the Rotary Music4Life™ program (www.RotaryMusic4Life.org) that is designed to help return instrumental music instruction to the core curricula in our public schools. He is also the Founding Director of The Explorer Fund for the Madison (Wisconsin) Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. David serves as President of the Advisory Board for the University of Washington Department of Scandinavian Studies, and previously served on the UW Music School advisory board and on the Board of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. He plays tuba and contrabass bugle.
